Q: How long ago have
you started with erotic photography and how?
A: After 30 years as a famous New Your
fashion photographer I produced and directed the worlds first exercise
program in 1981, Aerobicise®.
Playboy recently called me "The Granddaddy of Soft-core" because of
this ground breaking show. Aerobicise®
was also called "The sexiest show on TV, by People Magazine. In 1995 I
took a video of Susie Q, to Playboy and they gave me my first all nude
show "Ron Harris' Camera Up-Close & Personal, followed by twelve one
hour specials. After these shows had been aired, Hugh Hefner called me
"The King of Erotica".
Q: Digital photography is becoming more popular,
new technologies seem to appeal to many young photographers. is
digital photography going to replace 'film based photography' or will
these techniques take two separate paths?
A: In 2003 digital photography
technology has finally ended the reign of film. It is no longer
necessary for any photographer to compromise quality with a digital
camera. The latest Star Wars film was shot on video "digital". I
personally use a Canon D60 and am about to buy the new Canon 10D.
Since I use 1200X800 as the highest resolution on the internet, I need
nothing else. For magazine photographers the Canon D1 or the Kodak 14N
will do the job. Shooting digital you get to see your results
instantly and make corrections. You can become a great photographer in
a much shorter period of time.
For those would be photographers I
also use a Metz flash on all my adult work. I use iso 400 and vary the
output manually on the Metz to attain the correct exposure, this means
the output from the Metz in approximately 1/4 power, allowing me to
shoot 3 fps when necessary. I shoot in the highest resolution possible
on the Canon D60 2048 X 1072 and use cropping to extend my ability to
get close. I also only use the Canon 28mm to 200mm lens and shoot
jpeg's only. The raw mode is too cumbersome and brings me marginal
advantages.
Q: The web has revolutionized our way of living,
and of working. what has been the impact of the web in the
professional life of a photographer like you? how did it change your
relationship with the traditional way of working and of relating to
traditional publishers?
A: Since 1983 my hobby has been
computers and the internet. So when I started my first adult site in
May of 1996, my relationship to the world changed profoundly. I no
longer need to work with publishers as I did for more than 40 years.
The experience I have gained from shooting for major corporations and
magazines was tremendous and has given me the skills I posses today.
But I really appreciate the ability to run my internet sites from my
second bedroom and have no boss.
Q: Photography is without any doubt not only
your job but also your biggest passion. which are your other personal
interests and hobbies?
A: For most of my life I have been
working on a book called "Naked Power" which is an artists view of
Truth and Beauty. The outline for the book is on my website
www.ronharris.com. I am
interested in how Mother Nature works, because if you understand how
she works it is very easy to be successful. Beauty is mother natures
way of saying I am structurally strong and fit.
My hobbies are: girls "i have a young
beautiful girl friend" I go to the gym six days a week, I run for
20-30 minutes at 5.5 mph, on the treadmill and lift heavy weights,
alternating upper/lower body every other day. I also stretch at least
one hour every day. I use no drugs of any kind.
Q: Do you do a lot of model scouting? how can a
model reach you?
A: Models can reach me at
ron@ronharris.com. From my many
years as a photographer I have cultivated good relationships with
model agents and get most of my models from them. I only shoot
beautiful, all natural, young girls 18-22 who still possess an
innocence that makes them appealing. Casting is the most important
part of all photography and movie making. lighting is next and
direction last, but not least. The least important element is the
camera, a camera is a tool, how you see is what matters.
Q: Are you a web surfer? what kind of sites
could we find in the bookmarks of your web browser?
A: I have thousands of bookmarks in
180 categories. My interests are extremely diverse. I of course have
every good erotic site that I have ever found. I must know what the
competition is doing and if there is any one who is doing better
photography than me, I will beat them! My goal is to have the best
adult site on the internet. With only the most beautiful and adorable
girls I can find. I have adapted my style to what I believe to
be the most sexually appealing, young fresh girls having fun and
turning you on with the sexual power of the beautiful bodies. I pay
more than anyone else and can usually get the best first.
Q: Free question. something I should have asked
and I did not.
A: Killers in all societies "have
twice as many wives and three times as many children as non-killers"
By killers I also mean those individuals who head corporations and
governments who have no morality and care only for there own profit at
the expense of everyone else, "Enron, WorldCom, Arthur Anderson, etc.
This is what Darwin meant when he said "the survival of the fittest".
